The performance of a portable toilet is hindered by the winter
conditions. We do our best to compensate for the elements by using a strong brine solution in the toilet tanks.
The brine solution becomes more diluted with each use of the toilet. This causes the contents to freeze.
When we service the toilet, we can only pump out the liquid. This
means the frozen contents
remain in the tank. If the toilet is over used it will only be a matter of time
before the toilet tank
is full and all contents of the tank frozen; therefore leaving the toilet non-functional.
The
addition of the strong brine solution and weekly servicing of the toilet is all
we can do to try to stop the freezing.
What can you do?
• Order more toilets. The Ministry of Labour mandates 1 toilet per 10 workers.
This
is under optimal conditions. If the toilet is freezing it is being over used.
•
Place a 120-volt electric heater in the toilet, aimed at the tank, and run it
24-hours a day. This is actually
cheaper than renting an additional toilet.
• Place an insulated
tarp over the toilet.
We will do our best to keep your toilets from freezing and with your cooperation, and
the simple suggestions above; we will all make it through the long and cold winter.
When a pick up is scheduled during
winter months the renter is responsible for removing the frozen ground and/or ice around the toilet to facilitate removal
of unit.
Thank
You!
